Re: “Southern Republican Leadership Conference

Ron Paul has a ton of supporters who are students. They outright can't afford the kind of ticket prices the convention charges, something like $190 just to sit in an overflow room and watch the speeches on TV. He hadn't been planning to attend until his schedule was clear and he gave in to supporters, as far as I can tell. Campaign for Liberty announced he'd be able to go about two weeks ago... then Romney and Pawlenty pulled out. However, Ron Paul has only been confirmed for a couple of weeks with the event this weekend, so I don't know how realistic a straw poll victory is. I know a lot of his supporters were planning to see him last weekend, or the 15th in DC at the Tea Party event.

Still, Ron Paul is about getting people to consider his IDEAS more than about winning anything. He thinks he has things to say to call people back to American traditions and conservatism which have been lost from the conversation in the last decade. He will be there to try to engage people's minds.

Now his SUPPORTERS may be there to try to give him a win.... But given that Sarah Palin announced she'd be there last year, and her web site has been informing her supporters of that since then, and given how popular she is in the South, I hope Ron Paul supporters will be happy with a 'good showing' in the straw poll, and a respectful audience, which I do believe the South can provide.
