St. Patrick's Day Parades

St. Patrick's Day parades kick-off this weekend.

The French Quarter Irish Parade starts at Molly's at the Market (1107 Decatur St.) at 6 p.m. Friday and circles the district.

The Irish Channel Parade (www.irishchannelno.org) follows Saturday's noon Mass at St. Mary's Assumption Church (2030 Constance St.).

The cabbage- and bead-hurling float parade circles the Garden District from Magazine Street to Jackson Avenue to St. Charles Avenue and back down Magazine.

In Old Metarie on Sunday, a full complement of 35 floats, 55 trucks and 15 marching clubs rolls at noon from 45th Street and Severn Avenue and follow the traditional route down Severn to Metairie Road to Focis Street. — Will Coviello
