The All Night Strut

If there's a link between hard times and good music, The All Night Strut seems to have found it. While the Depression and war years of the 1940s were lean and trying times, they were extremely rich for the American songbook. The show is a rich pageant of the era's jazz, swing and bebop. The show includes songs like "Ain't Misbehavin,'" "It Don't Mean a Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing," "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree," "Chattanooga Choo-Choo," "As Time Goes By," "Juke Box Saturday Night," "I'll Be Seeing You," "Brother Can You Spare a Dime," and "Gimmie a Pig Foot and a Bottle of Beer." Choreographed by Alton Geno, it's a high-energy nostalgia trip set in scenes that evoke the clubs where the music thrived from Harlem to celebrity-laced speakeasies like Manhattan's El Morocco. Tickets $24. -- Will Coviello
