The Belleville Outfit

A New Orleans-formed ensemble recently lost to the wilds of Austin, Texas, the Belleville Outfit came together barely more than a year ago when singer and guitarist Rob Teter was offered a slot — for a band that was no more " at the popular country-music event Merlefest. He quickly rallied a few Loyola classmates and some other musical friends, and after two days of marathon rehearsal, the Belleville Outfit was ready — and it went over big. Named in homage to a Django Reinhardt song, the six-piece band plays an amalgam of the guitarist's hot-club, gypsy swing mixed with big band sounds, high lonesome Appalachian mountain music, warm Southern soul, Americana twang and the traditional jazz of its former hometown. Tickets $7. — Alison Fensterstock
