The Brees Dream Foundation and the Dunkin' Donuts Joy in Childhood Foundation
donated $20,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana May 22. Second Harvest is one of nearly 20 Feeding America member food banks to receive funding from the Joy in Childhood Foundation as part of a three-year, $1.5 million commitment.

Isaac Jabaley,
a sixth grader at Lusher Middle School, represented Louisiana as the state's geographic bee champion selected to compete at the 29th annual National Geographic Bee in Washington, D.C. May 14-17. Jabaley won the Louisiana Geographic Bee in March.

Karl Oliver,
a Republican state representative from Mississippi, wrote on Facebook May 20 that the "leadership" of Louisiana aiming to remove controversial Confederate-era monuments should be "lynched." He deleted the post and apologized May 22 "to both my colleagues and fellow Mississippians" — but didn't mention Louisianans.
