2012 Big Easy Music Awards Nominees 

Rebirth Brass Band, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Henry Gray and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will receive special honors.

The Big Easy Foundation has announced nominees for its 2012 Big Easy Music Awards. There also are several special recognition awards. The Grammy Award-winning Rebirth Brass Band will be honored as Entertainer of the Year. Walter "Wolfman" Washington will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will be named Ambassadors of New Orleans Music. Blues pianist Henry Gray will receive the Music Heritage Award. There also are awards in 24 categories ranging from best traditional jazz to best DJ/electronica. Top honors include best male and female performer and best album of 2011.

Winners will be announced at the Big Easy Awards on Monday, Apr. 23, at a ceremony at Harrah's New Orleans, and there will be perfomances by nominated artists. The event is sponsored by Gambit, Harrah's New Orleans, Coleman E. Adler and Sons and Cupcake Vodka. For ticket information and reservations, call 483-3129.
