Toups South announces dinner series 

Four-course meals served at counter of open kitchen

Restaurateur and Top Chef star chef Isaac Toups is launching a monthly dining series at Toups South (1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., 504-304-2147; www.toupssouth.com) Sept. 21.

  The Counter Club series will feature special four-course menus and will be held at the Central City restaurant's 18-seat exhibition counter surrounding the open kitchen.

  The dinners will be held the third Thursday of the month. Themes will be revealed the first week of the month, but menus will remain secret until the dinner.

  The inaugural event is dubbed "A Fowl Experience." Toups and chef de cuisine Seamus Rozycki will serve dishes such as a Laotian-inspired duck breast larb salad, combining minced duck breast, butter lettuce, Thai chilies and puffed rice, and pickled quail eggs with caviar.

  Tickets are $50 and do not include drinks, tax or gratuity. Seating is limited. Call the restaurant for reservations.
