Who is Bozo Texino?

Just in from the world of folks without email and emoticons, Bill Daniel brings his film Who is Bozo Texino? to town. The black-and-white montage is like hitching a ride on a freight train and jumping cars across the country in search of the near-mythical vagabond behind the graffiti tag "Bozo Texino." Daniel spent 16 years riding the rails and interviewing hobos and tramps about their nomadic ways and creeds. "There's two things I don't like that make me a hobo," one weathered old man says, "Responsibility and authority." Men like him, who spend their lives traveling by train and scraping by, mark their paths by tagging cars with cartoonlike images and monikers. Bozo Texino was a popular image of a man in a wide-brimmed hat, smoking a cigarette. While there may be many hobos marking cars with the image, Daniel went in search of its creator and found one man who says he drew more than 30,000 of them in a single year. Tickets $6 general admission, $3 Big Top members. --ÊWill Coviello
