Wine of the Week

A near-perfect climate of Pacific breezes, sun-drenched vineyards and cool nights along with state-of-the-art winemaking facilities combine to produce premium Chilean wines. Add value to the mix and it's obvious why the Chilean wine industry has catapulted to a new level in the world market. Carmen blends 20 percent Cabernet Sauvignon into this wine, which is predominantly Carmenere, another French varietal brought to Chile in the late 19th century. This well-structured wine offers concentrated aromas of ripe red berries, chocolate and vanilla notes. On the palate, expect flavors of cherries and currants with spicy edges. Good with veal, pork, fowl, cheese and pasta dishes. Available at Sidney's Wine Cellar, Langenstein's and Dorignac's.
