Wine of the Week

From the makers of Spain's ground-breaking and prestigious Pesquera, the grapes for this wine were sourced from a neighboring slope in the hilltop village of Haza along the Duero River. The potential of that site and the care taken in production is evident in this complex, well-made bottle of wine with an appealing freshness and depth of fruit character. Made from 100 percent Tempranillo and aged in American oak for 15 months, the wine exudes ripe red berry, cherry and licorice aromas with concentrated flavors of dark berries, chocolate, spice and coffee on the palate. Good with steak and roast duck. Available at Cork & Bottle, Martin Wine Cellar (Uptown location), and Sam's Club on Airline Highway and in Slidell. (Store listings current at press time.)
