Aged nine months in American oak, this wine is primarily Zinfandel with small amounts of Barbera, Syrah, Sangiovese and Petite Sirah added. Blackberry fruit, black currants and plumy flavors with a touch of pepper follow inviting aromas of burnt cherry with just a whiff of spice. The finish falls off somewhat, but the soft, sweet tannins, good structure and forward fruit more than compensate. You might want to pour it a half hour before drinking to allow the alcohol on the backside to blow off. Good with barbecue, smoked pork tenderloin, Cajun, Asian and Italian cuisines.
