Wine of the Week 

From Piedmont's tiny Gattinara district, situated north of Milan, three generations of the Travaglini family have produced this outstanding wine for more than eight decades. The distinctively shaped, trademark bottle is molded to fit one's palm for perfect pouring. Made from 100 percent Nebbiolo, the wine is aged 12 months in French barriques followed by 18 months in Slovenian oak casks with an additional six months of bottle aging. In the glass, this medium- to full-bodied wine offers floral bouquets and intense aromas of blackberry and plum with hints of vanilla and leather. Ripe raspberry and cherry flavors with spice notes dominate on the palate. It is excellent with roasted or grilled red meats, game, stews and hard cheeses.
