Aspiring artists who want to both write the great American novel and be in a band can find inspiration at the Pirate's Alley Faulkner Society's Words and Music festival. Saturday's "Faulkner For All" features Wesley Stace (author of Misfortunes, By George) who performs as John Wesley Harding and has released a string of folk/pop albums (Who Was Changed And Who Was Dead, Adam's Apple). The panel also includes writer/musicians Eugene Mirman, Laura Lippman (Life Sentences) and Rick Moody (The Ice Storm, The Diviners), who sings with the Wingdale Community Singers (pictured). Other guests at the festival include Dennis Lehane (Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River), Kevin Sampsell (Beautiful Blemish), Nevada Barr and many others. Major topics at the festival include mystery writing and Dashiell Hammett's The Maltese Falcon. Visit the Web site for a full schedule. — Will Coviello
