Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) head (and New Orleans native) Donna Brazile is coming home next week to speak to the annual Independent Women's Organization (IWO) at the group's annual fundraising lunch.

Brazile has been in the news a lot in the last week, mostly regarding her recently published memoir about Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House. In it, she says the Clinton campaign controlled the DNC's fundraising, to the detriment of challenger U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders. (Former Clinton staffers and many Democratic leaders dispute this.)

But it was one comment she made yesterday on ABC's This Week With George Stephanopoulos that may raise some eyebrows in Louisiana in particular: that her experience at the DNC was worse for her than Hurricane Katrina and the federal floods.

Do I regret taking on a job, for the second time in my life as chair of the party, cleaning up everybody's mess, taking all of the incoming, being unable to spend the funds that I raised, being on the road 100 percent of the time, being hacked by the Russians, being harassed with death threats, do I regret any of that?

This was worse than Hurricane Katrina in terms of emotional toll, but do I regret standing up for what is right, helping Hillary Clinton, helping the Democratic Party, let me just say this: As somebody who went through a hacking experience, being able to tell the truth about what happened with the Russians, do i regret any of that? No, I wish I could have done more...

To those who are telling me to shut up, and were telling Hillary that a few months ago:
Go to hell.

"Anybody from Louisiana knows I'm gonna put some hot sauce on every page," Brazile told Stephanopoulos at the end of the interview, "and if it's not dripping with something that's hot and spicy, it's not me."

The IWO lunch will be held at The Cannery in Mid-City. Tickets are $50-$60 and are on sale now.  No need to bring your own hot sauce.
