The Bywater Hideout Cafe on Poland Avenue has closed.
Bywater Hideout Cafe (941 Poland Ave.) has closed. The owners of the Poland Avenue breakfast and lunch spot made the announcement on their Facebook page Monday, and said the restaurant has “closed permanently.”
The cafe,
previously called The Crepe Place, was opened in late 2016 by the team behind the popular Crepe Cart at the French Market. The cafe served sweet and savory crepes, coffee drinks, and smoothies.

The owners weren’t immediately available for comment, and there is no word yet on what caused the shutter.
The owners have said that the cafe’s most loyal patron, a cat named Waffles, is in need of a home. Folks who are interested in adopting Waffles can contact the owners through the café’s Facebook page
here.
