Aretha Franklin has canceled upcoming performances — including her headlining slot at the 2018 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival — under doctor's orders.

The Queen of Soul also canceled her appearance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on March 25, her 76th birthday.

She was set to perform during Jazz Fest's opening weekend on Saturday, April 28. Festival organizers announced Rod Stewart will take that spot on the schedule.

“Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months," according to a statement from Franklin's management. "She is extremely disappointed she cannot perform at this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as she had expected and hoped to.”

Franklin also canceled appearances at the 2009 and 2010 Jazz Fests. She finally returned to New Orleans for the 2012 Essence Festival. Last year, Franklin announced her retirement from live performance, with only a few appearances on her schedule.

Jazz Fest returns to the Fairgrounds April 27-29 and May 3-6.
