The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival released its schedule "cubes" today. Quint Davis, CEO of festival-producer Festival Productions, Inc., detailed some of the programming planned for the Fair Grounds April 27-29 and May 3-6.

Instead of highlighting another country in the festival's Cultural Pavilion, the event will celebrate New Orleans' tricentennial. There will be a wide range of performances and displays representing the city and its cultural traditions, from musical tributes to parades led by local Italian and Irish marching groups.

Kermit Ruffins will perform a tribute to Louis Armstrong and Henry Butler will pay homage to Jelly Roll Morton. The pavilion stage, located on the Fair Grounds' infield between Congo Square and Food Area II will host performances by Mardi Gras Indians, Native American groups, jazz bands and bands from nations tied to New Orleans and its history, including performers from Gambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Honduras, Haiti and Ireland. There also will be dance, performances by Versailles Lion Dance Team and more. A food stall near the tent will offer calas, or rice fritters.

Single day tickets will cost $80 at the gate. Children's tickets are $5 at the gate. Early bird single-day tickets are $65 through April 6. Advance purchase tickets are $70 and available through April 26 for the first weekend and through May 2 for the second weekend. New this year is a deal on tickets for Thursday, May 3. Thursday tickets are available for $50 to patrons with a Louisiana photo ID (limited to two tickets per person). Tickets are available via Ticketmaster and at the Smoothie King Center box office.
