The NOLA 300 Tricentennial Dog Parade, which was scheduled to take place Sunday in New Orleans City Park, has been canceled due to threats of bad weather. The cancellation follows that of the "Citywide Family Reunion" in Armstrong Park,  which also was scheduled for Sunday; the musical portion of that even has been moved to the Orpheum Theater.

The dog parade, which was sponsored by Gambit, is part of the city's official tricentennial activities. A makeup event is being scheduled.

More information below the jump.

For the safety of the dogs, their owners and event vendors, we are sorry to announce that we have decided to cancel the New Orleans Tricentennial Dog Parade, due to a high chance of thunderstorms on Sunday morning. As a registered attendee, we invite you to enter our virtual dog costume contest and will be sending you information in the coming week about a “make-up yappy hour”.

VIRTUAL COSTUME CONTEST: To enter the virtual contest contest, please email a photo of your pup in his/her #NOLA Centric costume by Friday, April 27 at noon to vip@gambitweekly.com. We will be announcing the prize winners on Monday, April 30, 2018.

#NOLA300 YAPPY HOUR/ COSTUME PARTY: All registered attendees will be invited to an upcoming dog-friendly yappy hour, where you will be able to pick up your #NOLA300 gift bag and mix and mingle with other NOLA dog owners, while your dog will get the opportunity to show off their creative costume.
